Sheriff Kirk Wakefield states that on January 18, 2006, one of Crawford County’s most wanted felons, Larry Martin Beaman, was apprehended in Indiana through a collaborated effort by the following agencies; Indiana Law Enforcement, Houghton Lake Post of the Michigan State Police and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office. Beaman, now 65 years old, fled Crawford County in April of 1996 regarding cocaine, criminal sexual conduct and fraud charges, all felonies ranging from four to ten years in prison, and is presently in the Crawford County Jail awaiting sentencing. For the past ten years, Beaman has moved around the United States in an attempt to evade apprehension, which has finally come to an end.
