Crawford Co Sheriff's Office News Release Friday January 20th, 2006

     Crawford County Sheriff, Kirk A. Wakefield states that on Friday January 20th, 2006 at 2 minutes after 12 midnight that Deputies and Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at 1885 Cherry Creek Road, located in Lovell's Township, northeast Crawford County Michigan.

     Once the fire was extinguished fire fighters located the body of a 47 year old male in a rear bedroom in the structure. The owners dog was located by the owners feet. The Medical Examiner's Office and the MSP Fire Marshall's office were called in to investigate the death and the cause of the fire. A detective was also called to the scene to assist in the investigation.

     The investigation into the fire and death is still open, until investigation is completed and a autopsy is performed.

     Agencies involved and assisting at the scene: Crawford County Sheriff's Office, Lovell's Township Fire Department, South Branch Township Fire Dept, Greenwood Township (Oscoda County) Fire Department. MSP Fire Marshall's Office from Gaylord, Detective from the MSP Houghton Lake Post, Crawford County Medical Examiners Office.
