Monday February 13th, 2006

     Crawford County Sheriff, Kirk A. Wakefield states that on Monday February 13th, 2006 at 8:33pm that a snowmobile accident with injuries had occurred on Newman Rd north of Twin Peaks Rd in Frederic Township, northwest Crawford County Michigan.

     Upon arrival it was found that a snowmobile had hit a tree and the driver was deceased. Investigation shows that the snowmobile was riding with two friends when the driver fell behind and hit a tree. The friends noticed that the drivers headlights were not behind him and returned to find the accident scene. CPR was initiated, but the subject was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.

               Agencies involved and assisting at the scene: Crawford County Sheriff's Office, Frederic Township Fire Department, Frederic Township EMS, and the Crawford County Medical Examiners Office and the Otsego County Sheriff's Office.
