NEWS RELEASE

Saturday February 18th, 2006

     Crawford County Sheriff, Kirk A. Wakefield states that on Saturday February 18, 2006 at approximately 1415 hrs that two snowmobiles collided head-on. The accident occurred in the southeast part of Frederic Township on trail #47 near the Crawford County Fairgrounds. The two snowmobiles collided at the crest of a hill causes the drivers to be thrown face first into one another. The helmets of both drivers were damaged in the accident.

Robert Niebauer 55 y/o of Elmira and Francis Raymo 52 y/o of West Bloomfield were both transported to Grayling Mercy Hospital. Niebauer was transferred to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City and Raymo was transferred to St. Mary’s in Saginaw.

Neither alcohol nor speed, were believed to be a factor in the accident. The accident remains under investigation.
