Crawford Co Sheriff's Office News Release Saturday July 15th, 2006

Crawford County Sheriff Kirk Wakefield states that on Saturday July 15th, 2006 at approximately 8:40 pm, A Crawford County Sheriff's Office Deputy performed a traffic stop on a vehicle on northbound I-75 for speeding just before the Otsego County Line. The deputy observed a case in the back seat of the vehicle in which the driver stated contained a firearm (rifle). Upon further investigation by the Sheriff's Office, the vehicle was searched and a large quantity of marijuana, methamphetamine, a knife and illegal fireworks were located. The subject was taken into custody on multiple felony charges of:
- possession with intent to deliver marijuana
- possession of methamphetamine
- CCW violation
- possession of firearm while in commission of a felony
- possession of illegal fireworks
- transporting illegal fireworks on the Interstate highway
A speeding citation was issued for excessive speed. The subject was lodged in the Crawford County Jail pending arraignment on the above charges. The name will be released after arraignment.

The Roscommon County K-9 unit assisted in searching the vehicle to verify all items were confiscated.
