Sheriff Kirk A. Wakefield states on Friday, October 27, 2006 at 2:05 a.m. Crawford County Central Dispatch advised Crawford County Sheriff’s Deputies along with a Grayling City Police Officer that a 1993 Chevrolet S-10 pickup, green in color, had been stolen from a residence in Grayling Township.
Deputy Swope had observed a vehicle matching the above description traveling east on M-72 out of Grayling with "3" subjects in it at 1:55 a.m. A checked of the registration that Deputy Swope had submitted indicated it had been the above reported stolen vehicle.
At 2:07 a.m., as officers responded to M-72, a dark colored S-10 pickup was observed pulling into the Grayling 7-11. This vehicle matched the stolen vehicle description. Two male subjects, now occupied the vehicle, with the driver being taken into custody for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
The identity of the third individual, a 14-year-old juvenile, was revealed and picked up by officers.
The passenger and juvenile were subsequently released after submitting written statements. The juvenile was cited for Minor in Possession.
A report is being submitted to the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office for review and authorization of warrants.
