Sheriff Kirk A. Wakefield states on Thursday November 30th, 2006 at approximately 8:08 a.m. a Crawford County Deputy stopped a vehicle for an improper plate on a vehicle. The driver, a 19-year-old male from Grayling, was arrested for operating without insurance and registration. While searching the two passengers, in the vehicle, a bag of what is believed to be marijuana was found in one of the subject’s pants pockets, that subject being a 16 year old male, who was taken into custody and turned over to Probate Court for possession of marijuana. The third subject was released.

While searching the vehicle a wooden box, approximately 16” x 8” x 10” was located in the back seat of the vehicle. Inside the wooden box four bongs, two scales, two pacifiers, a mirror, a razor blade and a digital camera were located. Deputies were notified by one of the subjects that it belonged to his friend who asked him to drop it off. The friend was staying at the Super 8 Motel off Four Mile Road in Grayling Township.

Upon further investigation, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and S.T.I.N.G. Team Narcotics Officers went to the Super 8 Motel and made contact with several subjects, possibly owners of the wooden box. A search of the four subjects found substances suspected to be cocaine and marijuana along with paraphernalia and large sums of cash.

Two of the four subjects were arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail, and will be facing several charges. The investigation is still on going.
