On March 3rd, 2007 at approximately 7:56AM officers of the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, South Branch Township Fire Department, and Mobile Medical Response EMS Units (MMR) were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident two miles east of M-18 on M-72.
The initial report indicated that individuals were trapped in a vehicle and that a semi was across the road
Assistance was requested and received from the Grayling Police Department and Michigan State Police (Houghton Lake and Gaylord Posts).
The accident resulted in two deaths:
Dawne Daleen McNamara
40 y/o from Luzerne, MI
Edward-James Kevin McNamara 16 y/o Luzerne, MI
The accident is still
under investigation, seat belts were worn, and alcohol was not a factor.
