Crawford County Sheriff Kirk Wakefield states that on Saturday June 9th, 2007 at approximately 3:03 a.m. it was reported that a male subject was lying in the center of north bound Interstate 75 in the area of Lewiston Grade underpass. Upon Deputies arrival the subject was found to be deceased after having been struck by a motor vehicle.
The deceased victim is Marc James Gardner 31 y/o of Lapeer, MI. The vehicle he was driving was discovered 1-1/2 miles south of the accident scene out of gas. The subject had been struck in the lane of traffic.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the subject was a 41 y/o woman from Wisconsin. No charges are being sought at this time and the accident remains under investigation.
