Thursday, January 3rd, 2008
Sheriff Kirk A. Wakefield states that on Wednesday January 2nd, 2008 at approximately 7:30 pm. his office investigated a serious injury snowmobile accident. The accident occurred on Bobcat Trail at Karen Lake Rd in Grayling Township. Bradley W. Fyock 17 y/o of Clio, Michigan was riding his 2000 Yamaha snowmobile south on Bobcat Trail at fast rate of speed, when he failed to negotiate a 90 degree curve onto Karen Lake Rd. Upon loosing control, Fyock hit a snow bank and became separated from his snowmobile at which time his head struck a tree causing severe damage to his helmet.
M.M.R. (Mobile Medical Response) EMS units transported the unconscious 17 y/o to Grayling Mercy Hospital and he was later flown to Saginaw St Mary's Hospital by a St. Mary's of Michigan Flightcare Helicopter in critical condition with head injuries.
Deputies say that the driver was familiar with the area and that his grandparents own a campground close to the accident site. Speed, inexperience, and loosing track of where he was on the road were causes of the accident. Alcohol WAS NOT a factor in this accident. Investigators believe that wearing a helmet SAVED HIS LIFE !!!
As of 1/3/2008 3:00 pm Fyock remains in Saginaw St Mary's and his condition has been upgraded from critical to serious condition with multiple head and facial factors.
