Saturday February 16th, 2008
Sheriff Kirk A. Wakefield states that on Saturday February 16th, 2008 at approximately 1:54 pm, Deputies were dispatched to a serious injury snowmobile accident. The accident occurred on Sno Trac Trail east of Lovells Road in Lovells Township.
A 16 year old female was westbound on Sno Trac Trail and failed to negotiate a curve in the road. She went off the roadway and struck a tree.
A M.M.R. (Mobile Medical Response) EMS unit transported the 16 y/o to a nearby landing zone and the patient was transported to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City by a North Flight EMS helicopter for treatment of her injuries.
Deputies say Alcohol WAS NOT a factor in this accident. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
Agencies assisting included Lovells Township Fire Dept Rescue unit, M.M.R. (Mobile Medical Response) EMS and a North Flight EMS Air Helicopter unit.
