Crawford County Sheriff Kirk Wakefield states that on Tuesday February 9th, 2010 at 10:10 am, Deputies were dispatched to a possible breaking & entering at a seasonal residence located in Frederic Township, northern Crawford County. Deputy Alexander while enroute to back up Deputy R Swope observed two males walking north on Old US-27, with two large garbage bags over their shoulders. The subjects fled on foot into the woods upon observing the Deputy's vehicle. Deputy Alexander gave foot pursuit assisted by Deputy R Swope and the two subjects were taken into custody. They were found to be in possession of a large amount of marijuana, a firearm and a safe. The subjects admitted to breaking into the residence and stealing the marijuana. Deputies went to that residence, made contact with homeowner who stated that his house had just been broken into. The homeowner later stated that the marijuana was his. Deputies seized approx 12 pounds of marijuana, the weapon, and a large amount of currency. Three subjects were taken into custody and their names will not be released until they are arraigned various felony charges.
